Matchmaking Rating, or MMR is a value that determines the skill level of each player. This value is used in matchmaking. Winning increases a player's MMR, while losing decreases it.
Ranked Matchmaking allows players to earn seasonal ranking medals based on their MMR. Players with the highest ratings are listed on the world Leaderboards.

- All the following medals have a sparkling particle effect in-game.
Calculation
- The exact calculation for earning medals is kept secret by Valve and may change over time.
- This page only reflects rough estimates based on community observations. Please discuss any proposed changes on the talk page.
- MMR is not the only factor in determining medal rank.
- MMR will not always match up with their estimated medal.
- It is normal to be a few hundred points off from the numbers given here.
- It is possible for some players to receive medals far above their MMR, because:
- Medals cannot decrease in rank even if they lose many games.
- The player has multiple Steam accounts.
- The system remembers and judges player performance based on their peak skill level, not their current skill level. This is a common mechanism in competitive games to combat smurfs and intentional derankers.
- Medals are earned based on the highest skill level obtained during the season and will not decrease for the remainder of the season.
- Both solo and party ranked MMR is considered when determining medal ranks. Solo MMR plays a larger role.
- Divine ranks can only be earned through solo MMR.
